A Partnership by Design
MWM is a true partnership. This means that we work together as a single firm rather than as a series of semi-independent operators. We believe that this promotes the values required to establish and maintain long-term relationships and reflects the value placed on team work and effective client focused execution, as distinct from individual salesmanship. As a consequence, MWM is more than the sum of its parts.
Partner Commitment
The partner who receives the brief from a client is the individual who leads the search effort and process. Partners do not delegate the intricate, skilled and often detailed process of a successful search. The hallmarks of our approach are intelligent pragmatism and a plain speaking and straightforward style combined with complete discretion - we are used to carrying out highly confidential assignments without leaving our clients exposed in the market.
Conflict Free
We are developing our business by building strong relationships with a small number of clients rather than trying to work for everyone in a given sector. Our ability to operate is therefore less constrained than in many large search businesses, which have to take account of many different clients and the sometimes conflicting interests of offices located in different countries.
Beyond Sector Specialism
We do not consider specialisation to be a virtue in itself. Our clients are the true sector specialists. If they had the answer to a search under their nose we could add little for them. MWM's partners collectively bring experience in operating across many different sectors. We are able to take this approach as our expertise lies in identifying talented people with high potential and a strong appetite to achieve.
We understand that such individuals will not necessarily be found within a specific nationally defined sector or from an existing generation of leaders. Apart from situations where a particular expertise is required, the best individuals can successfully move between sectors.
Transformational performance or major turnarounds are often delivered by individuals who are just off the radar screen. This is perhaps for no other reason than they have chosen not to court publicity or that they have delivered exceptional performance in 'unfashionable' businesses, but who have the ability and appetite to deliver change without feeling inhibited by the status quo. By identifying such individuals we have built up a track record of delivering real value to our clients.
Smart Research
The partners, all of whom have research backgrounds, are supported by an experienced and expert in-house research team.
Our search process places emphasis on the importance of research as the bedrock of every assignment and our researchers form an integral part of each assignment team.Whilst we have an extensive database, we do not view it as an oracle.
Our research is expert and intelligent: we understand how to interpret data and make judgments based on expertise, authority and our trusted relationships with senior individuals. We do not simply prepare 'lists' generated by a database, a process which can limit thinking to picking over past deeds rather than finding the people who will deliver future success.
